Employee Challenge Program (cont.) - 10/19/2009Some of the important rules of the Employee Challenge Program are that the employees can’t pass out the customer benefit card within the restaurant or parking lot area and it must be done on their own time. Results can be figured in a couple of ways. You can either count the number of cards redeemed per employee signature or you can include the total dollar amount of each redeemed card. When using the total dollar amount, the redeemed card is attached to the guest check. The total gross dollar sales are recorded as part of that employee’s contribution in the Employee Challenge program. The Total Gross Sales approach forces the employee to think a little. They could pass the cards out to friends who might come in and buy only the discounted items or they could be inclined to give them out to individuals who will buy a lot more than just the discounted items. The neat thing about this promotion is that it can involve every one of your employees. Not only are you getting the promotional cards distributed free, but you’re subtly getting a recommendation from your employees to their friends. The promotion also has an expiration date which protects you from having to discount beyond your promotional time. Make sure that you record and post the total redemption dollars every day so the staff can see how well they are doing. When you reward the employees on the Total Gross Sales of each card, they may be motivated to Sell With Suggestions to the card recipients during their visit to the restaurant. You can make the "Employee Challenge" Program exciting by offering a grand prize of a trip for two to some exotic place like Hawaii OR Orlando OR a cruise. Back to Top Other Entries |
