One-On-One with the Guest is Great Restaurant Marketing "You've Come To Visit, Let's Have A Good Time Together!" - 06/25/2009The Guest comes to your restaurant to have a good time. If your food and service Exceeds their Expectations, the Guest will become a Word of Mouth Ambassador for your restaurant marketing program. Word of Mouth Marketing will ultimately depend on the Quality of your Food and Service. Success in developing Positive Word of Mouth Marketing is a journey, not a destination. It is the hundreds of little things that you and your Employees do during the Guest dining cycle. Success is a process of Exceeding the Expectations of the guest. A process inspired by a great leader who leads by example, gives candid, but, constructive feedback to his employees and has an unbridled passion for his work. Passion is a key motivator, passion is the element that separates average and good restaurateurs from outstanding ones. Keep in mind that Guest Service and Exceeding the Expectations of the guest always starts at the top. Management must keep the promise to their employees and to the guests if the company, as a whole, is going to Exceed the Expectations of the Guests. Every employee must learn very quickly what you expect and be willing to share the vision of the restaurant. When employees need to make a decision concerning the guest, they will make that decision based upon what they have seen management do. Everyone at the top must set the example for their employees. If you Exceed the Expectations of the Guests, you don't need a big advertising budget to bring in new customers. This is restaurant marketing at its best! The guests will do it for you through Word of Mouth. I suggest that you identify your top fifty customers and focus on Exceeding their Expectations. Keep in mind that these people are your best customers and so their expectations will be higher than the average customer. You have to continue to cultivate a stronger relationship and Exceed Expectations at every level for these guests, if you want them to be Word of Mouth Ambassadors to do your restaurant marketing for you. Take no chances. Focus on doing the extraordinary. Be different. Be watchful for new opportunities and be open to new ideas. Don't get lackadaisical. Don't take anything for granted. You need to dazzle the guest. If you are really going to be the best, nothing but the extraordinary can serve as your model. You have to dare to dream big. When you have Positive Word of Mouth Advertising, you have your Guests bringing in their family and friends. They also come back on a more frequent basis. Word of Mouth Advertising is a very cost-effective Restaurant Marketing Program. Back to Top Other Entries |
