Recognize an Employee for a Job Well Done - 10/22/2009

The greatest assets you’ll ever have are the people who work for you. If you take the time to find out what interests and motivates each of your employees, then it’s much easier for you to build a strong foundation for your business. You need the employees as much as they need a job, and, if you let them, your people really can make a difference.

Recognize an employee for a job well done. It can be done with praise, a pat on the back, a plaque, or lunch.

Employees want to make worthwhile contributions. Let them. Be a good listener so you can understand every idea or suggestion your employees give you. Ask for their suggestions concerning work, and be willing to make whatever changes necessary to implement their good ideas.

Employees should feel as though you really do rely on them to help you make decisions. Once you decide on what needs to be done, give them the opportunity to help you figure out how, when and by whom it should be done.

Keep employees informed about any changes that directly affect them. Also, make sure they are given the latest and newest information about your food and services.

Employees always do a better job when they understand exactly what you want them to accomplish. Train, support, guide and develop your employees. Let them know what is expected of them and how their performance will be evaluated.

Your employees should always know you are available, approachable and interested in them personally, as well as in the work they do.

Make your employees feel important, and they will work hard to make you successful.
