Sales Add-Ons - 08/14/2009

Master Marketing Strategy #8 - Master Marketing Strategy #8 - Initiate a Sales "Add-On" Program for Your Guests (Selling With Suggestion and Suggesting Highly Popular / Profitable Menu Items)

The key to effective marketing is to get your prospective customer to try the finest menu item(s) that your restaurant has to offer. The menu item(s) that makes your restaurant distinctive. The menu item(s) that you are famous for. The most likely menu items that will bring them back time and again.

You need to sell the menu items that are the most popular and that also generate the most profit. You are going to have mailing/marketing campaigns for your restaurant. It is important you "feature" the correct menu items. If I were to ask you which menu items were your most popular and the menu items that generated the most amount of profit, could you tell me which menu item would be the one?

These menu items may be the very reason that your customers are coming to your restaurant. You should always maintain rigid purchasing and preparation specifications on these menu items. You need to ensure that they are always served by highly trained employees and that they are cooked and served to perfection.

It is your "Best" menu items that you want to sell to your customers. If your prospective customers were to try your "Best" menu items, would they have a greater likelihood of returning? Would they come back sooner??? ... More often? Because the "Best" menu items generate more profit and because your current customers love them, it is suggested that you feature your "Best" menu items on all your marketing campaigns. These menu items will give you the greatest opportunity to "exceed the expectations" of your customers when they visit your restaurant.
