"WOW" #1 - Potential Customers - Always be on the look out for bringing Potential Customers into the Restaurant. It is a great idea to actually target businesses in your Market area for a personal visit.
NEW Customers are the lifeblood of building business. Never pass up an opportunity when you are going to the bank or Post Office to give your business card with a $5.00 (or appropriate) premium for when you visit with individuals who have not eaten at your Restaurant and/or who have not been there for some time.
It is a great idea to actually target businesses in your Market area for a personal visit. When coming or going to work or anytime in-between, stop in and say hello. Leave a premium and spread goodwill. If you planned to visit 3-5 businesses a day, it wouldn't be long before all of the businesses in your Marketing area would have been visited.
Another idea is to "plan" delivering a special treat i.e. dessert, small pie, hot cornbread, rolls, biscuits or whatever your restaurant is famous for on a systematic method to all of the businesses in your immediate Market area. You should naturally start with the businesses that are not doing business with you, but do not forget to reward your current good Customers too.
One great idea to build Lunch business is to actually call the immediate area businesses, ask how many Employees they have and then make Lunch for all the Employees. Deliver Lunch to the business at no cost. This is random, unexpected and builds a great Customer loyalty. It also creates fantastic Positive Word-of-Mouth Advertising. Be sure to prioritize the businesses you are going to contact by how much day-to-day business that they can bring back to your restaurant.
The Returns on Investment for this promotion have been really great. The Employees show their appreciation by having Lunch at your business on the other days and just think of the value of the Word-of-Mouth Advertising.
