"WOW" #7- After the Meal - When we arrived at the Restaurant, we were greeted immediately by the Manager and called by name. We were quickly escorted to a beautiful view table. Almost immediately, we were served beverages and then appetizers, the Food and Service was fantastic. The steak so tender that I could cut it with my fork and the vegetables were crisp and delicious. We shared a dessert and the dessert was fantastic, but we just couldn't eat it all. It was a perfect dinner. Now what? What can be done after the meal to continue a perfect evening? A great guest experience is the best restaurant marketing you can do. Read on for nine more effective marketing ideas.

Create events, reasons to celebrate, things to remember and HAVE FUN while creating Positive Word-of-Mouth Advertising.

1. At the end of the meal, ask the Guests if they would like to have their picture taken. Get permission to put a picture in the Guest Book of Fame.

2. Put the uneaten portion of dessert into a take-home container and include another full portion of the dessert.

3. Have an entertainer and/or magician visit the table and give them personalized attention. This is a very effective restaurant promotion.

4. Give a FREE dessert to each Guest if they will refer/treat six friends who have not eaten at the Restaurant and give their friends a card for a FREE meal and/or dessert/appetizer.

5. Give the Guest some after-dinner mints, chocolates or truffles with their Guest Check.

6. Prior to giving the Guest Check, offer the Guest some cinnamon and spice hot apple cider as an after-dinner beverage ... complementary, of course.

7. If you are aware that the Guest has an area business, think of ways that you can help promote their business with yours. This is called Cross-Promotion. Restaurant promotions with area business will bring you many rewards, as their customers become yours.

8. Make the Guest aware that the Restaurant is donating a percentage of the business to a charity and thank them for their patronage, which makes the donation possible.

9. Say Thank You ... Personally - Research has shown that the Guests really appreciate the personal touch when their Server draws a smiley face and writes "Thank you" on the Guest Check OR "It has been my pleasure to serve you" or any personalize message that may pertain to the reason the Guest(s) are dining out.
